It Looks Like Christmas Is Coming Early!

-This is a gift for anyone who wishes to expose Noam Chomsky for the piece of shit that he undoubtedly is. I would also like to note that this post was inspired entirely by a critic in my comment section two posts down. This link catches Noam on every back-sliding, context-dropping, communist-endorsing statement that he's ever been a part of. As you can imagine, there are quite a few.

  • Dan, yes there is some validity in Paul Bagdanor. But they are excerpt often taken out of context. He well documents his resource to tell the "truth" but attacks a quote which without the rest of the argument looks ridiculous. For instance, when he states that in the Iran-Iraq war, only 1% of the weaponry was provided by the US. However, it doesn't specify how much we backed Iraq monetarily or the chemical weapons we provided Iraq (All the Shah's men, Kinzer). I am not defending Noah Chomsky as a person but applaud what his first book tried to do, Counter Revolutionary Violence (1973), expose the outlandish tactics that we were using during the Cold War. Then in 1975, in the Church Hearings, a lot of what Chomsky was trying to say, came up. I mean the number of people the US tried to remove from office during that period is astonishing, Arbenz, Pol Pot, Lumumba, Trujilo, Castro/ Che, Ho Chi Minh, Mao, Mossadegh, the list continues and so do the human rights violations that occured by supporting fascist regimes. So Dan, this is not an attack on what you think of the man personally, but the development of the exposure to secret op's that American did not know all details to.

  • It doesn't look ridiculous at all, especially when Chomsky says things like this:

"On 9/11, the world reacted with shock and horror, and sympathy for the victims. But it is important to bear in mind that for much of the world, there was a further reaction: "Welcome to the club."

For the first time in history, a Western power was subjected to an atrocity of the kind that is all too familiar elsewhere."

-How can that be taken out of context? It should also be enough proof to validate my prior claim how anti-American Noam Chomsky is.

  • I did not say every excerpt from Bagdanor was taken out of concept but many were though. I pulled out one that I knew the most about and expounded upon how Bagdanor did fully explain the whole situation. You know that many people attack things by pulling a small subtext that doesn't project the full picture. I am not saying that Chomsky should be put up on a pedistal but his early work was significant.

But, also look at the reaction of Americans after 9/11. It was the first time we have been attack on our soil since the American Mexican War in 1846 and before that 1812 which were both with national army's. So I do not know how Chomsky can be labled anti-American when he was taking a global persesptive.

  • Do you think the statement

"On 9/11, the world reacted with shock and horror, and sympathy for the victims. But it is important to bear in mind that for much of the world, there was a further reaction: "Welcome to the club."

For the first time in history, a Western power was subjected to an atrocity of the kind that is all too familiar elsewhere."

    isn't anti-American?

"So I do not know how Chomsky can be labled anti-American when he was taking a global persesptive."

-If the whole world declared that they hated America, it wouldn't be anti-American but rather a "global perspective", right?

  • thanks for putting some of chomsky's most controversial quotes and comments in one convenient place for us to peruse. With objectivity i hope everyone infers their own opinion from events that happened.
