Free Speech Vs. CAIR

-I found this article while looking into Joe Kaufman's website. It finally looks like some people are starting to get it.
The stated goal of the Islamic faith is to kill us, the ‘infidels,’ Mary Ann Hogan wrote. She penned the note to criticize the county for using personnel and equipment to assist a recent Ramadan festival at a local mosque.[Source:http://tinyurl.com/y6g63k]

-Have a look-see at the "logical" comparison Ahmed Bedier, the executive director of the Tampa Chapter of the Council for American-Islamic Relations of CAIR*, makes concerning Catholicism and Islam:
Brown-Waite recalled in the letter that Bedier had told her, “Catholic priests pose more of a terrorism threat by having sex with young altar boys than those who flew planes into the World Trade Center.”[Source:http://tinyurl.com/y6g63k]

-Coming from CAIR, or Muslims rather, this wild analogy doesn't suprise me in the least. Consider another valid point made by Brown-Waite:
At that meeting, Brown-Waite claims that Bedier and CAIR were seeking a member of Congress sympathetic to their views. She was not that person, she said, because “neither I, nor my constituents, felt that the American Muslims or CAIR had adequately disavowed past terrorist acts.”[Source:http://tinyurl.com/y6g63k]

-Good, because they haven't and they never will. I'm glad to see that no one gave into the mob-like pressure CAIR tried to put on them.

*Which is less than a mile from where I currently live.

Ginny Brown-Waite piggybacks a Republican constituent’s remarks regarding Muslims, and feeds her own appetite for headlines. The United States, like it or not, is in the middle of a war on terrorism, and yes the 911 perpetrators were extremist of the Muslim faith. President Bush has said many times, “we’re fighting them over there, so we don’t have to fight them over here”. Yet our 5th district Congresswoman chooses to use terrorist style public snipes, regarding what clearly is the opinion of a couple of her constituents, Mrs Hogan and Mr. Ahmed Bedier. Ms. Waite states Mrs. Hogan’s views represent how many US citizens perceive the Muslim faith. Excuse me Ms. Waite representation stops at the Dist. 5 boundaries and to presume a District 5 constituent speaks on behalf of any other American, is a demonstration of her lack of understanding regarding last weeks elections. What Ms. Waite said in public print could have, and should have been said in a private meeting, to help diffuse the situation. Instead Ms. Waite chose to add fuel to a highly flammable situation right here in our own back yard. It’s this kind of hard charging, bloviating, cowboy (sorry cowgirl) remarks by Ms. Waite that has our troops mired down in Iraq. It does nothing to demonstrate civil discourse, however good you might feel about making them. To use one of my Grandma’s (God rest her soul) old sayings; “Stirring the pot does not a good stew make; good stews come from knowing what to add and when to add it”. Ginny Brown-Waite’s choice of words and venue makes her a prime candidate for Grandma’s stew making school!
